Pumpkin Flan In Instant Pot
Place steamer rack in instant pot.
Pumpkin flan in instant pot. Place the covered pan on a long handled wire rack. With venting knob at venting position close the lid then turn venting knob to sealing position. Cover and let it steam for about 50 minutes until the flesh is fork tender. Blend the rest of the ingredients into a blender and mix until the mixture looks creamy about 2 to 3 minutes.
Bake whole flan for 55 60 minutes or ramekins for 45 50 minutes or until the center of the flan is set and the flan is firm yet jiggly. Pour 2 cups water into the instant pot. Cook the flan at high pressure for 9 minutes with natural release. Pour the flan mixture into the flan pan and covered with aluminum foil.
You can make flan in just about any pan in the instant pot as long as it fits in the pot and is covered tightly with foil. You can steam a pumpkin by cutting it into small pieces removing the seeds and peeling the skin off. Put water in the inner stainless steel pot. Then place the covered flan into the instant pot.
Once the flan has baked through place flan on a cooling rack until room temperature. Definitely do not use a push pan when making flan because the flan will leak out of the pan into the instant pot liner. Combine milk and evaporated milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until warm. Place the pieces of pumpkin in a steamer or a metal colander over boiling water.
Add the trivet and place the pumpkin on top. If the pumpkin won t fit you can remove the trivet and place it right in the water. If the stem is in the way you can turn it upside down to let the stem hang below the trivet. Transfer flan into a refrigerator for 4 hours. If you don t have an instant pot don t fret. Once the flans are cooked carefully remove them and chill in the fridge for 3 4 hours. Add 1 cups of water inside the instant pot pot and add the steam rack.
Then put the covered ramekins on the rack. Meanwhile bring about 4 cups water to a boil and keep hot. I have used bundt pans for making flans. Add cold water to the instant pot followed by a steamer rack.
Add 1 cup 1250 ml of cold water in instant pot. Holding the handles of the rack lower it into the pot. Place the pan inside the instant pot. Secure the lid and set the pressure release to sealing.
